My Favorite Things | Week 4

For my birthday month, each week I am sharing a few of my favorite things! But this isn’t just some narcissistic spree I’m on – I’m sharing because I think some of them will become your favorite things too! Think of it as my gift to you – a mystery box to open up each week. These are all things that save money, simplify things, or just make life a little sweeter. They are also things that have stood the test of time, and been my favorites for years. They are quite random, and will cover a variety of categories.

This will amount to a lot of free advertising for some products. I am receiving exactly $0 from any of these companies. These are simply things that I love and want to share!

Enjoy!

Not Your Mother’s Hair Products

I want my hair to look good, but I also don’t want to spend a ton of time or money to make that happen.

Not Your Mother’s line of hair styling products are hands down the best products you will get for this price. They really are salon-quality products that bargain-loving women like myself can happily afford. I was overjoyed when I discovered them years ago, and they continue to be my favorites. Their “All Eyes on Me 10-in-1 Hair Perfector” works as well as the “Miracle Leave-in Conditioner” from It’s a 10, but at one quarter of the cost per ounce!

I also love their hair sprays and Beach Babe products!

Yes the names of the products can be a bit odd, and don’t bother reading the quips on the bottles. But the products are amazing!

Remington Pearl Pro Hair Straightener

My other favorite product for quick and easy hair styling! Personally I think the Pearl Pro works better than Chi, or other brands that cost four times as much.

It heats up in just 30 seconds, and you can easily adjust the temperature you want it at. It is a workhorse that won’t let you down.

Irises

The irises began blooming around the same time I began this series, so I couldn’t help but include them as my favorite flower of all time. When I was a kid, we had a row of irises along the road out in front of our house. They were a beautiful lavender color. When they were in full bloom, if you were standing downwind of them you could catch that perfectly sweet smell of springtime.

I mean, look at that first picture. What other flower also looks like a sea creature on the inside?

Irises are an almost effortless flower to grow, and are one of the first happy harbingers of springtime. They are both frilly and bold, as well as elegant and intricate.

One of the Lord’s wonderful providences in bringing us to our current home was the abundance of irises already flourishing on the property.

“Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.” James 1:17

The Greatest Gift of All

All of these favorite things are fun to write and think about, but they are utterly frivolous and devoid of meaning if they are not considered within the light of the greatest gift ever given: Jesus Christ himself. I hope you’ll watch this video, and consider what Christ has done for sinners.
